Author Interview and Giveaway: Christy Sloat

So as many if you know I have adopted the lovely Christy Sloat this Christmas from the Facebook event Christmas For Authors held by the amazing people over at Young Adult and Teen Readers. Christy has been so awesome and has offered to give away some swag and do an interview with me. Here it is.

1). What would I find in your refrigerator right now?
Nothing! I literally need to shop for everything. I think I have more milk than anything else. So at least my kids are set!
2). If you were a salad, what kind of dressing would you have and why?
Wow! Way to make me think. Okay I guess I would have Italian dressing because I am Italian! And I am spicy!
3). What do you do to get in the writing mood?
The house must be quiet. Kids in bed, husband either working or in bed. I need music on and goldfish crackers. If I can’t have music I can’t write. I light candles and help myself get into the calm mood of writing.
4). Sell me an invisible pen.
Ahem! You see this pen? No? Well that’s the magic of this here pen. You can’t see it! It’s magic and who doesn’t want a little magic in their lives? For only 9.99 you can own magic in your own hands. Don’t pass up this once in a lifetime opportunity!
5). Who would win a battle between and angel and a ghost?
An angel for sure! They have the most power here on Earth. A ghost is just stuck here and the angel is allowed to be here to guide humans and such. So the angel would take that ghost out!
6). What do you think of garden gnomes?
I love them! I do not fear them like some authors I know, Stacey Rourke. I especially like the zombie ones.
7). If you were a kitchen utensil what would you be and why?
A wooden spoon. Because I am tough and it takes a lot to break me down. You can depend on me to be there for you when you need me. I can also hurt ya if you test me!
8). If you could be on any reality TV show, which one would you be on and why?
Duck Dynasty! I love that family. They look like so much fun to be around. I want them to take me in as a family member.
9). How do you celebrate when you finally write "The End"?
I cry sometimes. Although I am usually by myself I do a little dance and pat myself on the back. One time I did a short video telling everyone I finished my book.
10). What scares you?
My hubby is a Police Officer so his job sometimes scares me. I don’t like spiders very much. I don’t like heights or airplanes. I am also scared of evil people in this world who think its okay to hurt our children or others. That’s scary.
11). What is your dirty little secret when writing?
Hmm, I usually write in my underwear! Just kidding! I write in my jammies. I need comfort.
12). If you were a Christmas decoration what would you be!
I think I would be the angel at the top! Because I am so cool!!
And now some fan questions.
13). Who is your favourite author? (Len Phelps)
I don’t have just one. I have many like: Stephenie Meyer, J.K. Rowling, Michelle Warren and the list goes on and on. But right now I have an author crush on Margaret Stohl and Kami Garcia. I just love those two!
14). What made you decide to take the leap into actually publishing your book? (Mary Myers- Huff Barscz)
I was originally going to self-publish my first book. Then I was approached by a so called publisher who eventually scammed me. Sadly.
Anchor Group came along and saved me. It was the best decision I have ever made. I think that you have to believe in your work before you publish at all. If you don’t believe in your work no one will!
15). Why don't you like vampires? (Lisa Markson)
What!? I don’t know who spread this awful rumor, but I love Vamps! I mean I love them!!!! I like Vampire Diaries, Twilight, Anne Rice’s Vampires and more. I even wrote a short story called ‘Darkness and Danger’ in an anthology  called; ‘Paranormal days gone awry’. I would never write a novel on Vampires only because I think it’s a bit overdone.
16). What inspired you to become an author? (Eileen Gensollen)
My Grandma Theda told me I should when I was a little girl. So I have always had that want to do it. One day I decided to honor her memory and write my first book.
17). What age did you start writing? (Eileen Gensollen)
12 non- seriously and 2 years ago seriously.
18). What genre is your favourite to write, paranormal love or past lives? (Ellen Gensollen)
Paranormal is the best! I love past lives but I think I like the paranormal the course I am going to take them. There is just something awesome about that type of world!
19). Will you continue to write scary books, or go for something different? (Angie Gass Roberson)
I think I will continue the Paranormal Romance factor. There will always be a love story within my ‘scary’ novels. And they will not be too scary. Who knows where this road will take me really?
20). Do you base your characters on people around you, their characteristics and personalities? (Alicia Walker)
I have based certain characters on family and friends. A little bit though. Not totally and fully like them. I take tid bits of them and add my own take. It’s kind of like playing God a little bit. I like the thoughts of making my own person. I based Brylee off of my niece. Brylee is so much like her, shy and strong!
21). Do you ever add a trait that you wished that person had? (Alicia Walker)
Sometimes but not always.
