Cover Reveal: Pictures, Lies and Promises- Tiffany Carmouche

Review ~Pictures Lies and Promises~
What a fantastic novel! There were several times that I had to remind myself to breathe! Pictures, Lies & Promises is jam packed with absolutely everything that makes a really good read! Every character & scene is written with such emotion and detail, you totally feel as if you are living the story. There are so many moments where my heart was thumping through my chest & just as many times I felt like it may have stopped beating. There are so many different aspects to this story & so many different directions it could take, you will be on the edge of your seat… and possibly have a few tears on your cheek.”~NickiWilson

Release Day Blitz and Review: Assassin's Rose- KaSonndra Leigh

An Immortal Games Novella
New Adult Paranormal Fantasy by KaSonndra Leigh
Release Date: September 29, 2013

Synopsis:

My mother once told me life is a lot like a card game.
She said you can either accept the hand you have been dealt, or you can create a new play, make your own rules, and win the game one card at a time.

I loved my mother with all my heart. She’s gone now. He took both my parents away from me. I’m talking about the Angel of Chaos, the one who plans to destroy both the human world and mine.

I can’t let that happen. He and the ones who serve him have already taken so much from me. I do believe it’s time for a little payback. I will have the final say. With my lover by my side, I can conquer anything.

I will turn the game around...and win.

For I am the assassin; and revenge will be my rose.

**This story contains sexual situations and mature language. It is intended for an audience at 17+ years of age.**

Rating: 4/5 Stars
Review: I received this e-ARC free from the author in exchange for an honest review.
I'm really bad for never reading summaries haha which of course I didn't do for Assassin's Rose so I had no idea what I was getting into. Even the "Assassin" in the title didn't click until I had actually read it in the book lol. I also I have read KaSonndra Leigh's Lost Immortals series but still I didn't connect the two. I was definitely a little slow during this read. Assasin's Rose was a good read. I love how KaSonndra writes so much detail into her books. It makes it very easy to picture everything in the story. There was also lots of action, secrets, love and betrayals. Also I love the how this book is NA and the others in the "series" aren't.
I feel bad for Desi because of her situation in general, but then after what Seth gets her to do, then ditches her, what an ass! At the same time I blame her for letting someone take advantage of her so easily. I get that she wants to avenge her parents death but I think there were better ways to go about it. You can't help but get caught up in all the drama this story gives you.
I can't wait until the next short comes out. I found this novella to be very interesting Andrea he ending intrigued me and I want to see where it goes. I would recommend this story to KaSonndra Leigh's fans and those who want to give a different kind of story a try.

About the Author:

Author of the Bestselling Lost Immortals Saga and the International Bestseller the Prelude. I’m also a mother, blogger, reader, gardener, home renovator, and a slayer of undead Egyptian mummies in Tomb Raider. I believe in karma, coffee, and seriously wish that the producers ofXena would bring my favorite show ever back.

I was born in the race-car city of Charlotte, NC, and now live in the City of Alchemy and Medicine, NC. Most of my characters are based on people that I’ve met throughout my travels and adventures. People tend to stop and start conversations with me as if I’ve known them my entire life. Does this freak me out? Not really. My mom says that one day I’ll get kidnapped by one of them. I told her that if it weren’t for these lovely people then I wouldn’t be able to create the stories that I do.

Some other common tidbits…hmm. I’ve watched the movie Under the Tuscan Sun almost 200 times. Seriously, the way I see it is if I keep watching it enough, then suddenly the house that Diane Lane lives in will magically appear in my backyard. I know. I have a huge imagination!

Excerpt:
The act ended with Hyde grabbing hold of a scantily dressed Lucy and pulling her into his arms. Then the lights on the stage were extinguished, and the silent crowd suddenly burst into thunderous applause—even some of the cast was clapping. Rebecca couldn’t help but notice Steve was watching the fanfare with a frown, especially when Fernando, dressed for the next scene as the butler, clapped Justyn on the back with undisguised approval and pride. Rebecca had the distinct feeling Steve was plotting something sinister and definitely Hyde-worthy.
From that point on, Justyn scarcely had a moment out of the spotlight. Rebecca didn’t even get a chance to tell him how fabulous he was. It felt as though the show had only begun when Rebecca found herself decked out in the splendid Victorian wedding gown signaling the final act was about to begin. The dress came complete with realistic bell sleeves, an excessive bustle, and a long, flowing trail embroidered with delicate lace. The elaborate wardrobes and happy wedding guests gave the audience the illusion that it might be a happy ending after all, but for Dr. Jekyll and Emma, that wasn’t meant to be. As soon as the reverend began to recite the vows, Hyde made his final deadly appearance.
At the beginning of the scene, it was sweet and romantic. Justyn started out holding her hand, looking happy, almost ecstatic to be with his true love. Then he suddenly started to sway. Tom, in his role of John, the best man, tried to steady him, but there wasn’t anything he could do to stop the transformation. Dr. Jekyll doubles over in agony and tries to run before Emma can see him change into a monster. Justyn was supposed to head toward the back of the stage where Rebecca would pursue him and eventually become Hyde’s captive. But they should have known no opening night could ever go exactly as planned, especially when it was obvious at least half the cast was out to get them.
Just as Justyn stumbled across the stage, Steve, who was blending in with the other guests on the sidelines, stuck out his foot. It was doubtful anyone else observed the sabotage, aside from Petya, who was smirking at her husband’s side. But Rebecca was at the perfect vantage point to see the intentional attack. Unfortunately, Justyn was so wrapped up in the role he didn’t notice the danger, especially since his loose hair was dangling in front of his eyes. Before Rebecca could cry out a warning, Justyn’s foot was caught in the snare. With a grunt, he tumbled off the side of the stage. Even over the background music and the gasps from the audience, Rebecca heard the loud thump as he hit the ground. She raised her hands to her mouth and couldn’t help but scream.

Cover Reveal: September Ends- Hunter S. Jones

Title: September Ends
Author: Hunter S. Jones
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Day:
October 1st, 2013
Reveal Host:
Lady Amber's Tours

Blurb:Overweight and dull. That’s how I felt.

My grandfather and brother died. I hid inside a black cave deep in my soul, numbed for a decade on meds, booze, and bad love, married to my glorious career.

My name is Liz Snow, from Atlanta, Georgia, and this is my story.

One hot summer I fell hopelessly in love with successful attorney, Peter William Hendrix III, from Chattanooga, Tennessee. We bonded because of Shelley and Keats. Pete introduced me to the works of modern English poet, Jack O. Savage, It was like The Poet was drawing us together through his blogs and poems, like he had a message for my life and my love with Pete Hendrix.
I lived it in my heart and soul.

It all went tragically wrong once I learned Pete’s secret.

As September ends I jet to London, England with an unstable mind and a broken heart. Pete Hendrix betrayed me big time. There was no time for revenge. My life was a kaleidoscope of stabbing shards of pain.

London ignored me. Maybe I didn't exist. I was lost and lonely in a flat in Kensington.
I hear that Jack O. Savage will make a rare public appearance. I wrangle an invitation to the art gallery where he is reading. I was curious. Somehow, he was the cause of my trouble.
The rock-star-with-words was even more damaged than I.

Jack O.Savage, The Poet became my friend.
Then, an unexpected kiss at a county fair on a perfect English summer's day changed everything forever. Jack the man became my lover.
Magic.
My elusive dream of a lifelong love began.
If Pete was what I'd always wanted, Jack was what I always needed.
The mystery unraveled as the kaleidoscope of my broken life evolved and I found myself living a rainbow of perfect bliss.

Sometimes when you believe it’s the end, it’s only the beginning.

September Ends is a contemporary romance with erotic and supernatural elements bound together by poetry. It reveals the intricate web of passion and desire which entangles Liz Snow, Pete Hendrix and Jack O. Savage. The story is told through Liz Snow’s diary, Jack O. Savage’s poetry, and from letters sent across the Atlantic. Traveling throughout the lushness of a summertime in Tennessee and Georgia, September Ends journeys into the elegance of London’s West End and is finally settled in the countryside of Cornwall, England, a decade later.

September Ends is a story of sin, redemption and salvation through love
because love happens when we least expect it.

Author Bio:

HUNTER S. JONE -Novelist. Exile on Peachtree Street.

Lover of all the finer things in life.

The art form I create when writing is much more interesting than anything you will ever know or learn about me. However, since you ask, I have lived in Tennessee and Georgia my entire life, except for one “lost summer” spent in Los Angeles. I was always a complex kid. My first published stories were for a local underground rock publication in Nashville. I have published articles on music, fashion, art, travel and history.

Currently, I have a music/entertainment blog @ExPatsPost.com. My debut novella, Fables of the Reconstruction, was published in 2012.

Edgar Allan Poe and Anne Rice have always fascinated me, although like any Southern girl, I will always idolize Margaret Mitchell for writing Gone With The Wind. I also adore the works of John Grisham, and own a huge selection of his books. I live in Atlanta, Georgia with my husband, my books, too many clothes, too many shoes and way too many stacks of notepads and journals.

September 2013 will see the launch of my first novel, a contemporary romance, written in collaboration with English author and poet, R.J. Askew.

Blurb:

And you thought Emmy’s life was a hot mess before…

Jack’s gone off to Arizona with his brother, but for how long? Emmy doesn’t have a clue. In his place, though, is Zachary. The whiny, miserable, alpha wolf–boy who is more than ready to take on the duty of her mate/boyfriend — if she’d let him, that is. But the last thing Emmy wants is to deal with a boy who believes that the world should fall solely at his feet whenever he demands it.

But hey, at least her step–douche is gone, and her life is back to an almost normal sense, right?

Wrong again, Emmy’s life will never again be normal…

With her Uncle Prick in town and her best friend acting as secretive as ever, Emmy finds new challenges to overcome — challenges that no seventeen–year–old girl should ever have to deal with. For one thing, what is up with her dream–liaison status anyway? What does it mean, really? And why does her little brother have to go through it too? And then there’s her mom. The lady is acting a tad bit odd, to put it nicely. After all these years, she finally wants to step up and be a parental figure? Heck no! Emmy’s definitely not copacetic with that idea.

But with the bad, there’s got to be some good out there for her somewhere, right?

Add in the wolves, witches, drama, and lots of kisses and you get Emmy the Extraordinaire, the girl with strawberry–colored hair, and a chip on her shoulder. She’s finally on her way to finding out what her life and her future both have in store for her, even if the road to getting there is nowhere near as easy as she hoped it would be. But Emmy is tough, and more than ready to take on life with her bare hands.

It’s just too bad she’s madly, desperately, insanely in love with a boy who insists on making her life both a miserable hell and utter perfection at the same time.

Excerpt:

Pressure, fire, wetness, tongues — single words were all I could think as our mouths battled. God, I’d never been kissed like this before. Ever, and if we stopped, I’d die a happy woman from his lips touching mine alone. He tugged his hand into the back of my hair, pulling my chin upwards, yanking me towards him. I clawed at his shirt, ready to rip it from his massive body. I pulled at his jacket first, lowering it over his shoulders until it fell to the floor. The buttons jingled against the tile, scattering over our feet. Damn, if he didn’t care about his signature black coat falling apart, then I had to wonder what else I could get away with.

Blog Tour Promo and GIVEAWAY: Deadly Secrets- Angee Taylor

Deadly Secrets by Angee Taylor blog tour

BLURB

The wedding was supposed to stop the endless stream of death threats. It seems someone didn’t get the message. As the family struggles to find the person or persons sending the threats, they face problem after problem. Rose is developing new powers so fast she's having a difficult time keeping up with them. New family members have been discovered that were erased from the family history. There is even possibly a betrayal from within their own family. Whom can Rose and Caleb trust? Who is out to kill them? Will they figure it out in time to save themselves and their family? Or will they discover the truth too late to save everyone they love?

EXCERPT

***Rose***
I crouched there looking down, sliding my tongue over my unsheathed fangs, which pricked it, and allowing the precious blood to seep into my mouth. Tasting the sweet taste of the iron rich liquid, my thirst spiked. The raw desire of hunger ate at me, like a wild animal chewing on a bone.

This wasn’t about hunger though, it was anger, and it was about protecting my family. Hearing Caleb and the others beating at the door, knowing I only had minutes before someone got the doors open. Looking deep in myself, breathing deeply I released the leash I kept on my powers. I felt them slam into me, for once the feel of thousands of bolts of lightening hitting me made me feel powerful, it wasn’t painful this time.

***Collin***
I stood still watching my sister-in-law. I had no idea what she was up to. I’d heard she had a protective streak and was very lethal when she wanted to be. Even though I couldn’t see this slip of a woman being lethal, I’d wait and see. I was caught off guard by what I saw with my own eyes.

The books went to flying off the shelves all around my library. Furniture began floating. The fireplace was erupting with flames all the while my little sister-in-law was still crouched looking down at the floor. Books that were flying off the shelves finally took on an ordered chaos as they were circling around and over me. Trying to get out of the room, I found I was fixed in place.

The fireplace calmed down, the furniture sat back on the floor. I was still fixed in place unable to move and books still circled around and over me. Looking at Rose she was still crouched, never looking up.

When she did what I saw startled me.

Standing slowly, she walked to me. Caleb was beating on the metal door that stood between him and his wife.

As she approached me I guess the fear in my eyes made Rose smile. “You see now I’m no child for you to mess with. You ever kidnap me again, it won’t matter who you’re related to. I’ll kill you and won’t tell them you’re a good guy.”

“Why are your eye’s…That’s not normal.” My voice quivered with the fear, no terror I felt.

“It doesn’t matter. All that does matter is you realize that those people behind that door are mine. I love each and every one of them. If you do anything to harm them, I won’t show you mercy. Vampire or not I can kill you. You may have gotten the drop on me once and drugged me. That was the only time it will ever happen. You better be truthful in all dealing with us or you will see what all isn’t normal about me.”

Waving her hand, the entire room returned to perfection. I shook my head half in shock but completely terrified of her.

Rose looked down, blinking a few times. When she looked at me again all traces of the person she had been seconds earlier was gone.

“Open that door for me, if you don’t mind.” Rose all but ordered it.

“Sure thing Rose.” I did so as fast as I could. I didn’t want to be in a room with her alone any longer than I had to. As the door opened, her family rushed out all speaking at once.

“What happened? What was all that noise? Is everything okay?”

Smiling at her beloved family then turning to look at me before she spoke, “Everything is just fine. Isn’t it Collin?”

“It’s great.” I gave my best smile, even though I was scared at the moment.

Caleb looked around the room, looking for some indication at what had happened. He found none. “Rose let’s go to bed.”

“I’m past ready. I hope the bed is a soft one, after being on that hard silver table for a few days.” Rose said as she walked down the hall towards the bedrooms.

As she walked through the door it closed behind her. I sat on the floor. It had been all the years of training to look tough that had kept me from doing just this earlier. I would not show fear.

Author Bio

Angee was born in Houston, Texas in 1977, to an interesting family. Her mother and father separated when she was young. She lived with her mother who later remarried a wonderful man, who had a huge impact on her as she grew up. Angee has always had a love of reading, mostly paranormal. As a child, she would sneak up at late night when her mom thought she was sleeping, to read. They moved around a lot, eventually settling in Deep East Texas. Angee married at a young age and eventually divorced. She has raised her now 16 year old son alone. Angee works full time as a pre-hospital nurse and sometimes sees things that would make the rest of us have nightmares. On other days, she is blessed to see miracles. These things are what drive her to write. In 2006, she was diagnosed with a rare disease, shortly after that she was told she would be on full disability in five years and most likely to be dead in ten. She’s fought to live a normal life every day since and is beating those odds. She works at a demanding job, is a single mom, cares for an elderly mother, and two dogs. Angee describes her job as- “I fight to save people’s lives. Sometimes I lose, sometimes I win. It's the emotional roller coaster of that job, which leads me to writing. I'm able to put those emotions into my characters and let them out of my heart and soul.”

Title: The Eslites: The Arrival
Author: C.M. Doporto
Rating: 4/5 Stars
Review: I received this book free from the author in exchange for a beta read and review.
Again, another friggin gorgeous cover from author C.M. Doporto. I'm not the biggest sci-fi fan but I read the short story The Eslites and really enjoyed it so I was delighted to be asked to Beta this one. After reading the novella I was left with so many questions and this instalment gave me everything I had craved. I found this book to be a fast paced and exciting read. I also liked that the novel dealt with quite a controversial/ ethical topic, but I really enjoyed that aspect. OMG! C.M. Was a total jerk with the cliffhanger ending and just when things were getting amazing.
I really loved reading how the girls lived on Nidus or should I say how they tried to stay alive. Miranda really surprised me, I found her to be so rebellious that's she was willing to risk her life to try (and maybe not even succeed) and save the others living on Nidus and the rest of the human race. But most shocking for me was Miranda's dad, her own father, the asshat of asshats. GRHH! And that's all the time I'm gonna waste on him. Not sure if I like Bryce yet. He is also an asshat, but he did somewhat redeemed himself but he does really need to grow a pair.
Overall I was really impressed for this being the beta read through. I can't wait to see where the story goes from here. I would recommend it to sci-fi junkies.

Review #166: Echoes of Angels- Matt Larkin

Tile: Echoes of Angels
Author: Matt Larkin
Rating: 4/5 Stars
Review: I received this book free from the author in exchange for an honest review.
I absolutely love this cover! It's gorgeous and it fits the story perfectly. Matt Larkin took a different approach in this series than in his other one. The Skyfall Saga was sci-fi/ fantasy where Echoes of Angels is sci-fi but with angels lol. As I have said many times before Nigel's are not more fortè, but this book was different. It didn't have the same old angel folklore that your typical angel read has.matt Larkin created an amazing new universe where angels have had an invisible rule for centuries and its about to come crashing down. I am excited about how this books ended but also mad because it was kind of a cliff hanger.
These characters were awesome to read about because both Rachel and Knight went against the norm, despite having to continually risk their lives, for what they think was better for humanity. I enjoyed the assumed love triangle that Rachel finds herself in, but I am Team Knight all the way! I can't wait to find out more about the new charger that was introduced in the last few pages of the novel and let me feel you SHOCKER!!
I really enjoyed reading this book. It was a quick read because it was so interesting and original. I can't wait for book two, which luckily is releasing in Winter of 2013, so relatively soon. I would recommend this book to sci-fi lovers and those who enjoy a different type of read.

Book Blast and GIVEAWAY: Law of Attraction- N.M. Silber

Blurb:

Once upon a time two lawyers fell in love across a courtroom …

Gabrielle Ginsberg was a public defender with plenty of nerve and

Braden Pierce was an assistant district attorney with a whole lot of

swagger. Gabrielle wanted Braden and Braden wanted Gabrielle.

And Cameron wanted Gabrielle.

And Marla wanted Braden.

And Cole wanted Gabrielle.

And Mrs. Mason wanted Braden.

And an anonymous letter writer wanted to keep Gabrielle and Braden apart.

Together Gabrielle and Braden discovered many important things, like

which doors at the courthouse actually locked, and that desks could be

useful for more than writing. They also found out that the path of

love was not always smooth, and it was sometimes trod upon by some

really wacky people, like a confused fanny grabber, an eighty-two year

old pothead and a gentleman who threw a wine and cheese party in his

pants. Could true love overcome a lack of privacy, interference by

jealous rivals and the insanity of the criminal court system?

Excerpt

“No deal.”

“What?  What do you mean no deal?”

            “Gabrielle,
the man worked the counter for eight hours with the owner tied up behind him.
It’s all on video. I would have to try really
hard
to lose this case at trial.”

            “You
want to waste your time trying this? What is it you think I would say to the
twelve jurors who gave up their day for that great example of the criminal
justice system in action?”

            “Maybe
you could put on your “everybody has a right to a trial” defense.”

            “You know, I’m going to
win with that one someday, baby. You had better watch out.”

            “Look,
I won’t object to him pleading guilty.”

            “With
no agreement? How kind of you! Well, at least people won’t question whether I’m
trading sexual favors for deals.”

            “Wait
a minute! You never said that was on the table!” he joked.

“I may have no
other choice. He worked the freaking cash register for eight hours to get more
money! On camera! C’mon, big boy. I’ll let you cuff me for plea to unlawful
restraint with a two year cap.” I winked.

“Pack up your
stuff and come with me,” he said, shaking his head and packing up his own
files. I packed up all of my files and followed him out of the courtroom. I saw
that we were headed toward the onsite DA’s offices where prosecutors prepared
witnesses and negotiated plea bargains. We went in and he led me to an open
interview room, shutting the door behind us. I figured that he had taken pity
on me and would throw some kind of bone.

            “So,
you want to discuss a deal after all?” I asked seriously.

            “I’ll
think about it, but don’t expect it to be generous, and I won’t offer anything
if the victim objects.”

            “Okay?”
I said, feeling a little confused. “I guess I can understand that. So why did
you want to come here?”

            “Because
I want to kiss that saucy mouth.”

            “Oh,”
I said, surprised, and felt goose bumps form on my arms. We were at work. This
was … different. He walked over and stood right in front of me. I could feel
heat radiating from his body and, God, he smelled good. He grabbed my chin and
tipped my head back. Then he looked intently into my eyes for a second, leaned
down, and I could feel his warm breath and sense his lips about to brush mine,
when he pulled back, teasing me. I opened my eyes again, unsure what to do and
afraid to move. I was about to start panting and a small whimper escaped my
throat.

            It
seemed to fire him up and his mouth came down on mine hard and took total
possession of it. So far he had been a slow, sensuous kisser but today he was
more greedy and demanding, almost dominating, and I’m not ashamed to tell you
that I liked it! He reached inside my suit jacket and ran his fingers lightly
along my back, sending shivers up and down my spine and I felt my lower regions
heating up and liquefying. After melting my panties for a few minutes he pulled
back.

            “I
have a confession. I tend to get a lot of adrenaline flowing in court,” he said
in a husky voice. “When I’m in court with you, I also tend to get a lot of
testosterone flowing. The combination fires up my libido like you wouldn’t
believe.”

            “I
should argue with you more often,” I replied a little breathlessly.

            “You
argue with me all the time. We’re lawyers. And you’ve been driving me crazy for
quite a while now. If we hadn’t started dating I probably would have banged
half the women in this courthouse.”

            “I
thought that you had banged half the women in this courthouse.”

            “Okay,
the other half.”

            “You
know, I think I’m happy that I’m a lawyer. And, believe me, I don’t say that a
lot.”

“Nobody says
that a lot. I really need to have some hot sweaty monkey sex with you on
Friday. And when I say “some” I mean hours’ worth. I’m talking getting
seriously freaky until we pass out.”

            “That’s
the best offer you’ve made me all day. You know that if I wind up trying this
dumbass case, I’m going to make you use that adrenaline and testosterone to
service me all night.”

“Well then,
we’ll definitely need to sleep in the next day. Now I have to get out of here
before I hit the floor … with you
under me.”

Author Bio:
Once upon a time ... N.M. Silber was a criminal defense attorney who

got up each morning, donned her power suit and sensible pumps, downed

a gallon of coffee and set out to "fight the good fight" while trying

to not go insane. Having a dark sense of humor and a sarcastic wit

helped -- a lot. Another thing that helped was reading. As escapism

was the goal, she liked to read romance novels, especially really

funny ones and really sexy ones. Then one day something beautiful

happened -- she read one that was both funny and sexy at the same

time. She hung up her power suit, put away her sensible pumps and

moved her coffee mug to her computer. Now she writes funny and sexy

romance novels herself and she lives happily ever after.

♥ Top 3 favorite Reviews ♥

I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest review, and I think I am about as frustrated after reading this ARC as I have ever been.  I stayed up half the night to finish this book because it, quite frankly, would not let me put it down.  Did I mention I’m frustrated?  Extremely Frustrated!  Is there a stronger word than “frustrated?”  Why, you may ask?  Because the book isn’t being released for three more days, I cannot share my copy with anyone, and I have NO ONE to talk to about it.  Frustrated, I tell you! {shakes fists in the air}

Literally from the opening scene I knew I was in for a treat.  This book grabbed me immediately and virtually dared me to try to put my Kindle down.  In fact, I did try.  As the evening turned into the wee hours of the morning, I tried to convince myself that I should get some sleep.  Not happening!  I couldn’t do it.  I rode it out to the final chuckle.  It didn’t matter that I would have to function the next day on four hours of sleep.  I would not, could not put it down.

Author N.M. Silber has created characters that rival some of the best television and movie comedy ensembles I’ve ever seen.  If you thought Lucy and Ethel were capable of getting into predicaments, you haven’t met Gabrielle and Jess.  I can’t help thinking that the “Friends” ensemble nearly pales in comparison to what Ms. Silber has created here.  In fact, if someone somewhere doesn’t pick this up and run with it as a premise for a TV sit-com or romantic comedy movie, then there’s no justice in the world.  My biggest challenge in writing this review is finding enough different words to use in place of “funny.”

The banter between the characters – all of the characters – is laugh-out-loud hilarious.  The courtroom scenes are unpredictable and witty.  The flirty scenes between Braden and Gabrielle are outrageous, but in a sexy, playful way.  Even the supporting characters get in on the madness.  Gabrielle tries to warn Braden that, aside from her parents, her other relatives are crazy.  Well, crazy doesn’t quite cover it really.  When Gabrielle’s, “thirty-two-year-old cougar cousin with the big hair, the expensive manicure and the Jimmy Choos,” loudly inquires of Gabrielle if Braden is “built to scale,” I figured we had seen the evidence of crazy.  Wrong!  It wasn’t until her mother had to shut down a dinner table discussion from Gabrielle’s Bubbe (grandmother) about the merits of “oral attention,” that I realized this family pushes crazy beyond the pale.  Oh, and trust me, Braden’s family is equally capable of dishing out their own style of irony.

It is NO exaggeration to say that every single scene in this book for me was perfection.  In addition to the outrageous banter between the characters, author N.M. Silber also manages to give the reader an equally pleasing dose of warm and tender romance, and some fulfilling hot and heavy passion as well.  I enjoyed this book too much to even dare try to mention plot for fear of spoiling anything for the reader.

Between the characters’ banter, the preposterous “fixes” that Gabrielle manages to coax her best friend Jess into, and the underlying theme of a blossoming romance that I was completely and utterly pulling for, my verdict is that there is clear and convincing evidence that The Law of Attraction is THE stand-out romantic comedy of 2013!  I cannot wait for the sequel!

Smut Book Club

I LOVED this book. Hardcore, super duper, would recommend it to anyone, marking it as a favorite kind of love. It's cute, adorable, lovely, sexy, panty-melting, heart-warming, laugh-out-loud goodness. The Law of Attraction is the first of a two-part series that will turn into standalone books about the other introduced characters. Like Stefan says, there's something for everyone; funny banter mixed with hot, sexy build-up mixed with hilarious side characters round out the likability of the book. I can't wait for the second book just because I want to spend more time with Gabrielle and Braden and the humping game. A HUGE must-read!

I always know when a book is good when I finish the book and immediately scour the internet to cyberstalk the writer to find out everything I can about what he or she is writing next, when it will be published, and what else he or she has released. I definitely cyberstalked the heck out of N.M. Silber after finishing this book.

This novel has a great mix of humor, plot, and sexiness. The funny dialogue between Gabrielle and Braden had me smiling and snorting with laughter throughout the read--I love a funny, sexy read. The sexiness was in perfect tune with the book--not too salacious but not too tame either. And the mix of romance between Gabrielle and Braden and the 'who is behind these threatening notes' plot kept me turning pages until my eyes were burning and begging for sleep in the wee hours of the morning..but I just couldn't stop. I willingly lost sleep--on a work night!-- so that I could see how this story ended.

You know why we liked them so much? Communi-freaking-cation. They're lawyers, so no offense to other lawyers out there, but these two liked to argue. The best part about their negotiations and banter and back and forth is that it was easy and happy and funny..so not your typical start of a relationship. Maybe the lack of angst was due to their age and chosen professions, but it was awesome and hysterical and I completely loved it. I laughed out loud many times, but I really enjoyed some of their court cases together. He is the prosecutor and she is the court appointed attorney for mostly minor cases but her inner-Gabrielle dialogue made me almost choke on my drink a few times. So be warned. Hopefully you laugh your ass off, but don't drink and read as it could be hazardous.

You can imagine my surprise when I got to the last page and I saw that this story would be continued in a second book. Those of you who read the blog on a regular basis know that I have a love/hate relationship with the whole 'to be continued' or even worse cliffhangers...but N.M. Silber handled the ending so well that I honestly was okay with having to wait for the next one to come out. I had a nice feeling of satisfaction and while I definitely will be eager to get my hands on the next book, I didn't have a strong desire to strangle the author...more like I wanted to gently nudge her into releasing the next one as quickly as possible.

Yep, I was a little like "say what?" But it wasn't a cliff hanger per se for Gabrielle and Braden. I loved them both with abandon, but it is more the secondary plot that is to be continued I think, while still giving us more of our favorite little gang. I can't wait to see what shenanigans they get up to in the court room, and well the interview rooms *ahem*. I can't wait to see what comes out of her Bubbe's (her grandma) mouth next and would love to see a scene where Bubbe and Drew (Braden's brother) go toe to toe, because that would be funny. *hint, hint*! Anyways, does my review make it seem like I am so happy to have read this book and really, really, really loved it? Well I'd like to state for the record (see, I even learned some court proceedings, lol) that I am currently smiling. It made me very happy.
I'm so looking forward to seeing who this mysterious note writer is, reading the funny quips between Gabrielle and Braden and their friends, and hopefully see them have their happily ever after. These two had one of the sweetest, non-angst filled romances I've read in a while and I thoroughly enjoyed it!
Me too, sister. Me. Too! I can't wait to see what happens next! Some of my favorite books are happy, well-written ones like this that pull me out of my angst filled masochistic book hangover. This is one of those. Perfect.
