Summary: Red mirrored scales race up my arms as the haze of pain blurs my vision. My bones crack, breaking to realign. I scream. It is then that the realization of my unavoidable fate sinks in; I am of a dying race. I am dragon.
Aurora Megalos, orphaned and teetering on the edge of adulthood, thought finding her past would curb the sting of being an outcast. Having no memories of the time before she awoke on her foster mother’s doorstep, she yearns for the emptiness inside her to be filled. With her fellow orphaned best friend, Fenn, by her side, she has nothing to lose and everything to gain. But something powerful stirred within her that she couldn’t explain. Something wanted out.
In the dark of night, a crazed Seer, dubbed Mr.Creepy, erases everything she’s ever known with an impending prophecy. She now faces two paths. Return to her true home to protect a dying race against a growing evil, or stay hidden in the safety of our realm with a shot at a true love. With a vengeful Arch Enemy stopping at nothing to see her dead, she’s running out of time; a decision must be made. What would you choose?

Review: I received this book free from the author in exchange for an honest review. There aren't too many YA books out there about dragons but I was luckily enough to get my hands on this dragon book by Candace Knoebel to read and review. I enjoy a good dragon story like the next person and this one did not disappoint. It contained a little bit of everything, magic, romance, mystery and fantasy. The only real problem that I had with this book was that there weren't enough DRAGONS!! But it did share a lot of background about the dragons, but it was more of a treasure hunt to find the dragon realm with dangers along the way then actually about dragons. I can't wait for book two because I think that it will be filed with dragons now that the introductions are over.
I liked Aurora, but I found her to be very needy. You could tell that she hated being alone and was scared of being abandoned by everyone she knew. She always had to have someone beside her. Hopefully in book two she gains some confidence. Fenn was the better character for me because he was more outgoing and didn't try and deny his feelings. And he is cute! Also I think we will be seeing a lot more of Alexis. Her and Aurora really hit it off. I can't wait to see if good will triumph over evil.
I would recommend this book to fantasy and dragon lovers. But I would warn them of the lack of dragons so far. But I mean most would be drawn in anyways with a cover this magnificent. Again, I can't wait for the next instalment to hopefully get my dragon fix :)
